Assessor Mentoring - Oregon Home Energy Score

Mandatory for participating assessors of the Oregon Home Energy Score program.

As required by US DOE, home energy assessors must schedule and score their first home accompanied by a mentor designated by Earth Advantage. The home where the mentoring session takes place will receive a Oregon Home Energy Score and Report. The mentor session can be conducted in person at a home in the Portland Metro Area or via Remote Mentoring anywhere in the state of Oregon. 

Prerequisites

Must have ALREADY completed the following steps:
  • Complete STEP 1. Obtain and verify qualifying US DOE credentials
  • Complete STEP 2. Complete Home Energy Score Simulation training
  • Complete STEP 3. Obtain and verify home energy assessor CCB certificate
  • Complete STEP 4. Complete the Oregon home energy assessor participation agreement
  • Complete STEP 5: Attend mandatory orientation
  • Locate a home to use for mentoring session. Home must be in Portland Metro Area for a in person session and 2500 sf or less
*Remote Mentoring is also an option for Assessors located outside of the Portland Area and unable to travel. This process requires training for using the Remote QA Form. Please indicate in your registration if you need Remote Mentoring. You will receive instructions for using the Remote QA Form, collecting video and web conferencing with the Mentor.

What to Bring:
  • Rain jacket and layers for outside data collection
  • Clothing for crawlspaces - e.g. coveralls
  • Clipboard
  • Pencil/pen
  • Headlamp or flashlight
  • Booties (optional)
  • Laptop or Tablet (Please bring the tool that will be used to generate a home energy score)

He is coordinating the onboarding and quality assurance of assessors in the Oregon Home Energy Score program. Jason is qualified as a US Department of Energy Home Energy Score Mentor and QA Provider. His experience includes retrofitting, training, mentoring, quality assurance, and technical support. He holds BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional certifications.
