Earth Advantage has announced recipients of its 2023 awards honoring Oregon homebuilders or projects for using less energy, improving air quality, and exceeding building code requirements.

For more than 10 years, Earth Advantage has recognized builders that are committed to building single-family and multifamily homes that are healthier for residents and the environment, the nonprofit states on its website. Award winners must participate in Earth Advantage’s home certification program, which provides third-party verification that the homes are built above code, prioritizing efficiency, durability, comfort and health. Eligible projects were completed at some point from June 30, 2022, to July 1, 2023.

Some honorees included developers who built the most homes with Earth Advantage silver and gold or platinum certification, a project that exhibited innovative design, or a project that engaged the community in the design process.

Two affordable housing developments in Northeast Portland’s Cully neighborhood were winners. Both Hayu Tilixam and Mamook Tokatee were collaborations of Community Development Partners and the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) and were designed by Carleton Hart Architecture and built by LMC Construction.
