Michael Armstrong

PARTNER, CITY SCALE

Michael Armstrong is a partner with City Scale, a collective of urban sustainability practitioners working to expand, connect and scale local approaches to addressing climate change. Prior to joining City Scale in 2017 Michael worked for 17 years for the City of Portland, Oregon, where he managed the city’s climate policy and programs for the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. Additionally, Michael co-chaired the Planning Committee for the Urban Sustainability Directors Network from 2014-2017. He holds a Bachelor of Arts  degree from Cornell University, and a Masters of Public Administration from Indiana University Bloomington.

Michelle Tang

RELATIONSHIP MANAGER, BANK OF AMERICA

Michelle Tang has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, serving both sales and operations. Michelle is a subject matter expert on lending programs. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys hiking, cycling and kayaking. She also has a passion for community service, volunteering her time as an instructor for the Art Literacy program at Tigard-Tualatin School District and a food packer at the Oregon Food Bank. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Portland State University.

Patricia Daniels

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CONSTRUCTING HOPE

As Executive Director of Constructing Hope, Patricia guided the organization through the transition from the former community development corp. to the Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Program. She worked with industry partners Northwest College of Construction, Hoffman Construction, and Pacific Northwest Carpenters Institute to develop curriculum, and received state certification for the program in 2007. Under her leadership, Constructing Hope has increased job placements from 16 to 83, annually. Outside of work, Patricia is an active member of her church community. She earned an MBA from Concordia College and, as an African American woman, worked her way up from secretarial duties at Constructing Hope to her current role.

Brian Simmons

PARTNER, WESTY PROPERTIES

Brian Simmons is an entrepreneur, investor, and senior level consultant who has founded eight businesses and invested in many others. Currently, Brian is a partner at Westy Properties. Prior to that he was the Co-Founder/President of Fluid Market Strategies, which provided energy services and was acquired by Clear Result in 2011. From 2011-2015, Brian served as a Board Member and Senior Vice President for Clear Result’s West Region, overseeing corporate strategy and business development. Brian is a Marine Corps veteran who serves as a non-commissioned officer from 1988-1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Advertising from Portland State University.

Wendy Abeel

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, INTEGRUS

Wendy Abeel has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications and public relations, working across a variety of industries. Currently, she serves as Director of Communications at Integrus, leading Pacific Northwest architecture firm. Throughout her career, Wendy has held a variety of agency and in-house communications roles where she has honed her ability to tell compelling stories that advance organizational objectives. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and Political Science from Lewis & Clark College.

Chad Ruhoff

OWNER, EAST AVENUE DESIGN + BUILD

Chad Ruhoff is the owner of East Avenue Design + Build, a full service construction firm specializing in residential new construction and remodels. Before founding East Avenue Design + Build, Chad was a Vice President at Neil Kelly Company. In total, Chad has more than 25 years’ experience in residential construction, with a focus on high performance building practices. Chad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chinese Studies from Pacific Lutheran University.

Timothy Treadwell

Senior Program Manager, San Diego Community Power

Timothy Treadwell is a leader and subject matter expert in energy technologies and markets, with more than 15 years of work in customer-focused program design and implementation. He currently serves as Senior Program Manager for San Diego Community Power. Prior to that, he was Manager of Customer Technology Development at Portland General Electric (PGE), where he was responsible for the Smart Grid Testbed program and investigates the DOE Connected Communities grant. Before joining PGE he led research, strategy, and business development at a number of organizations, including the Center for Sustainable Energy and ENGIE Insights. Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resources from Humboldt State University and a Masters of Science in Environmental Policy from Bard College.
