We provide knowledge to building professionals and information to consumers through certification, research, education, and product development to move the building industry towards more sustainable practices.  

We’re Looking For
You’re a senior-level finance professional who is interested in supporting the work of an environmentally-focused nonprofit organization with diverse revenue sources. You’re a wizard with numbers and enjoy looking for ways to improve efficiencies and mentor others.  This is a non-employee contractual position.

Role Description
This part-time contract position will provide fiscal guidance for the organization and work closely with a small team to identify and implement improvements to current financial and operational systems. You’d be a good fit if you’re an experienced professional looking to expand your nonprofit consulting portfolio. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Act as mentor and be an ongoing resource to the accounting and operations team.

  • Provide monthly oversight on all financials related to annual budget planning, monthly reporting, payroll, and annual audit. 

  • Review current procedures and work with staff accountant to develop systems that create process efficiencies and improve quality control. 

  • Act as a consultant to the management team on financial planning and other opportunities to advance the overall financial health of the organization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required; CPA/ CMA preferred.

  • 8+ years of accounting and senior level financial experience with at least 2 years of work with nonprofit organizations.

  • Strong eye for business and ability to build relationships, while collaborating across departments to solve problems throughout an organization.

  • Advanced knowledge of FASB for nonprofits, Quickbooks, payroll, budget development and nonprofit audit requirements.

  • Excellent record-keeping and record retention skills.

  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and reviewing contracts 

  • ​​​​​​​Previous CFO or senior financial management experience
