EPS for Program Managers
The Energy Performance Score (EPS) is at the core of Earth Advantage Institute’s suite of solutions for cost-effective delivery of impactful energy efficiency programs. Program managers can use these elements individually or together as an integrated EPS Toolkit.

The Energy Performance Score (EPS) is an energy performance asset rating tool for both new and existing homes that reflects the energy and carbon impact for a home and allows for home-to-home comparison. EPS scoring for homes is designed to integrate with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPWES) where that program is active, or it can be a stand-alone audit program. Over 3,500 homes nationwide have received an EPS, and the label is currently driving retrofit rates in programs in Washington state, including Seattle, and Massachusetts, Virginia, and Alabama. Over 20,000 homes are on track to receive an EPS by the end of 2013.

EPS Auditor is an online auditing tool that measures estimated home energy consumption (as an asset rating) and associated carbon emissions. Developed with input from auditors in the field and driven by an accurate energy model, EPS Auditor has been shown to outperform other software when estimating a home’s expected total energy consumption. In addition to cutting time in the field, its template-based approach gets photo-illustrated reports, recommendations, and graphical scorecards into the hands of homeowners quickly, while interest is still high.

The HOME (Home Owner Marketplace for Efficiency) Portal is an easy-to-use web-based system that guides homeowners through the audit and retrofit process, and connects them to program-qualified auditors, contractors, and lenders, reducing program administration costs. Not only does HOME reduce administration costs, but it also drives retrofit conversion rates by keeping homeowners engaged and building their trust with customer reviews and ratings of program partners.
