EASY TO USE AND QUICKER
“We are piloting EPS Auditor for two of our programs, and our auditors are finding it easy to use and quicker than tools we've had experience with. We really like the speed with which we can come up with a professional report.”
-- John Davies, Opportunity Council, Bellingham
EPS Auditor software measures estimated home energy consumption (as an asset rating) and associated carbon emissions. Its template-based approach, developed by auditors, gets photo-illustrated reports, recommendations and graphical scorecards into the hands of homeowners quickly, while interest is still high.
Proven Accuracy
The tool, tested during extensive pilots in Seattle and Bellingham, Washington, has received highly favorable feedback because of its accuracy and ease-of-use, enabling auditors to conduct more assessments in less time. EPS Auditor Pro requires fewer data inputs than other widely used rating tools and the tool’s auditor interface was developed based on feedback from working auditors.
The EPS Auditor Pro tool is based on SIMPLE, a powerful energy model developed by expert Michael Blasnik that was shown to outperform other software in estimating a home’s expected total energy consumption during a large test of 300 homes in Oregon.
IMMEDIATELY GENERATE GREAT LOOKING REPORTS
“The online EPS Auditor template allows us to immediately generate great-looking reports with photos, recommendations, and illustrative EPS scorecards. The reports can also serve as a complete scope of work that homeowners can pass along to contractors for bids. ”
-- Bruce Minturn, Vesta Home Performance
For energy efficiency program managers, EPS Auditor software provides accurate audits faster, cutting down on hours in the field. For independent auditors, the software is an affordable pay-as-you-go online audit tool, eliminating the costs of association memberships, software licensing fees, and provider approval fees. Scorecards can be generated with no delay following each audit. The only requirement is that auditors be certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) and that they complete an online EPS certification class.
For programs using the home performance contractor model, EPS Auditor provides contractors with the tools and flexibility to engage homeowners and provide customized proposals. After an audit, contractors provide homeowners with an EPS scorecard and a detailed energy analysis report that includes a comprehensive list of potential home energy upgrades. Once contractors review the results with the homeowner, they can then build proposals reflecting any number of the recommended upgrades, all of which are saved and accessible at any time. The number of proposals that can be saved to the system is unlimited. Also, contractors can calibrate the savings estimates in the energy analysis report to match the home’s energy use detailed in utility bills, allowing for homeowners to use the best available information when making decisions.
