Strategic Sustainability Services

We believe that an organization preparing to address climate change in a comprehensive and holistic manner must use a methodical approach beginning with strategic planning and moving through program implementation, all the while measuring and monitoring program success and making adjustments as appropriate.  Our service packages are designed specifically for clients and are tailored to their business objectives, organizational size, and business activities.

In a strategic planning approach for sustainability and climate change issues, we begin by identifying the relevant risks and opportunities for our client, including industry wide risks as well as organization-specific risks and opportunities.  Based on this initial assessment, we develop strategic responses and provide program design, development and implementation services.  The overarching objectives are to reduce our client’s risks and impacts while building organizational capacity to achieve further reductions, and take advantage of market opportunities.  In order to assess the success of these efforts, we develop customized metrics to monitor performance over time.

Customizable services include those related to sustainability and climate change, specifically:

  • Risk and opportunity analysis and planning
  • Action plans (program design and implementation)
  • Metrics development and monitoring (including third party verified greenhouse gas inventories and analysis and customized sustainability metrics)
  • Impact reductions (realizing cost savings)
  • Reporting (adding transparency and credibility)
  • Neutrality (leveraging leadership and commitment)
  • Research: Particularly focused on research regarding the climate change impacts of the built environment.

REALIZING THE BENEFITS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION

Given the growing level of stakeholder awareness of environmental issues, organizations are increasingly being called upon to address their climate change and sustainability impacts and risks.  As your company responds, it is absolutely imperative that integrity, rigor and transparency are integrated in your approach. This can be done by taking deliberate measures to assess your organization’s risks and opportunities in this arena. Transparency about your efforts is key to increasing credibility and demonstrating a solid commitment to responsible business practices. A climate change assessment and disclosing your company’s carbon footprint is a good place to start and has many benefits.  Visit our Greenhouse Gas Inventory page for more details.
