From Sustainable Homes to Sustainable Finance
Through its programs the organization seeks to create integrated market mechanisms that can help change energy behavior, from the Earth Advantage New Homes certification program that offers builders financial incentives; to the Energy Performance Score, a miles-per-gallon style rating for homes; and the Sustainable Finance program, working with lenders to create new preferred loan and insurance products for green homeowners.
Expert Staff
The organization’s service arm is composed of technical experts who provide third party home performance testing and energy rating audits, often a prerequisite for FHA-approved Energy Improvement Mortgages and other energy upgrade loans.
Earth Advantage Institute’s research department partners with leading universities and other research institutions to provide the industry with a range of green building data, from valuation studies to assessment of green building performance tools, and surveys on consumer energy and sustainability attitudes.
