A Comprehensive Approach to Green Implementation
Our Licensee Program is an easy way for states, municipalities, utilities and nonprofit organizations that currently have no green building or education programs to ramp up to speed quickly with recognized and proven standards.
Earth Advantage program licensees have developed new home certification programs, green building education courses, and are now able to license the Energy Performance Score software for use in rating homes and recommending energy upgrades.
Our Licensee programs offer in depth training, strategic marketing support, use of logos and co-branded marketing materials, and periodic quality control so that licensees can be assured that they continue to provide value for their new and existing customers.
Earth Advantage Institute offers licensing of the following programs to enable partners to quickly develop green building traction.
The availability of multiple programs offers a comprehensive approach that brings together different components that can accelerate adoption of green building. These include a new homes certification program; builder, realtor and appraiser certification courses; and Energy Performance Score software and training that can increase the rate of energy upgrades.
Home Certifications and Programs
Earth Advantage New Homes Certification. This program has already been licensed by 3 municipalities and utilities on the West Coast and by a large nonprofit in New England. Program elements include training of program managers and sales staff, field verification staff, CD of co-branded marketing materials, including sales kit, brochure, flyers, home owner's manual, FAQs, articles and tips for newsletter use, and press release templates. Marketing support including strategic press release development and media outreach, access to new materials, research and data for use in sales and media campaigns. Periodic quality control through accompanied onsite visits with field staff, and subsequent recommendations for quality enhancement, if required.
Energy Performance Score (EPS) Software and Training. EPS is a miles-per-gallon style rating for homes that measures "as designed" energy consumption and related carbon emissions. The rating allows homebuyers to compare energy consumption between homes and creates a motivation for homeowners to undertake energy upgrades. The use of EPS in conjunction with multiple listing real estate services and tax records enables cities and states to create a baseline of carbon data for the built environment in their area.
Program elements include:
- Access to web-based EPS software
- Training of local auditors
- Option of real estate professional and appraiser education/training
- Option of web portal that provides scores, explanations and energy upgrade recommendations to homeowners, and bidding on energy upgrades by qualified contractors
Professional Certifications
These in-depth certification courses provide a way for professionals to communicate the green building value proposition in a knowledgeable way, enabling builders, real estate professionals and appraisers to bring about transformation in the marketplace while differentiating themselves for greater business opportunity. Licensable courses include:
Sustainable Homes Professional. Six two-day modules that helps experienced builders develop the technical skills and knowledge to design and build high performance homes.
S.T.A.R. (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals). This two-day course gives real estate professionals the knowledge and skills to communicate with clients about the value and benefits of a new or remodeled green home.
Certified Residential Green Appraiser (CRGA). This course was created for appraisers, tax assessors, and other real estate professionals. It provides an introduction to all phases of green residential construction as well as analysis of valuation studies and cost data for residential green project.
