Multifamily Momentum!

Move over single family homes, here comes your big brother multifamily projects.  With the decline of new homes being built the multifamily building industry has caught fire.

In past years at EA we certified perhaps 2 new multifamily projects each year.  Last year alone we certified 5 different projects, 3 in Portland, 1 in Dallas and 1 in Bend. Below are pictures of a couple of projects EA certified in 2010.

In 2011 so far we have certified 4 more with at least 4 additional projects started and as many more on paper waiting to be raised out of the ground.

And that doesn’t even include existing multifamily projects that we are involved with.  To dated we have 4 projects that have hired EA to evaluate current conditions and make recommendations to upgrade energy levels and consult on moisture issues.  There are now several more of these type of projects that EA is discussing with company owners.

All in all, the multifamily project industry is keeping the technical department of EA pretty busy and seems to be compensating for the lower rate of new home starts.  Stay tuned for more.
