OUR STORY

Earth Advantage Institute has transformed itself over the past decade from a utility-based energy conservation program to one of the leading independent green building resources in the country, with more 11,000 new homes certified. Originally part of Portland General Electric, Earth Advantage Institute was spun off in early 2005.  

It is now a free standing nonprofit that provides a suite of green building programs, education courses, technical and research services. Certifications programs include LEED for Homes, ENERGY STAR, Earth Advantage New Homes, Earth Advantage Commercial and Earth Advantage Community. In 2008 Earth Advantage conceptualized and piloted the Energy Performance Score (EPS) with support from the Energy Trust of Oregon.
